About GRCAM

With new technology, and continuing decline of vocational training in high schools as a result there are about two million unfilled manufacturing jobs in America. This is a tragedy when so many people struggle to pay bills and support their families. The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago (GRCAI), will promote healthy communities by teaching working class and underclass low-income adults the skills they need to earn a living wage. We will also connect our members with good jobs in the manufacturing sector, and we promote life skills that create a path out of poverty.

As soon as I am able to start my Christian business the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago, under our political component we will focus on getting our laws on the books known as community rights which will help build safer neighborhoods, create great schools, and with purposeful jobs. And together, we can build bridges so that we can all thrive in vibrant communities.

Success in life requires access to quality education, resources, and, most importantly, systems that will support us in getting there. This is why I am creating my business within the inner cities to assist families that want to utilize our programs and services. In this great country, success should be possible for every family and law-abiding citizen. But in Trump’s America, too many hardworking citizens are constantly faced with new taxes, don’t have access to quality healthcare, daycare, or elder care, can’t make ends meet, don’t feel safe and they just don’t see how they can get from behind the eight ball. We’ve got to change that, and we’ve got to change that NOW.

We are told to play by the rules, to work hard, and to be persistent. But I want to make sure the rules are fair and work for all of us. GRCAI will put forth a referendum on the ballot for just laws where each of us can live in a safe neighborhood, near a great school, down the street from parks, across from places to eat and shop, and with purposeful jobs and careers.

First, we need social safety nets in our inner cities to strengthen relationships between diverse people. In this diverse country, we should have each other’s back. But actually, some people are trying to divide us and keep us apart. They say I don’t belong, you are not good enough ect…But we know we are stronger when we work together that’s the legacy our grandparents left us during the Civil Rights Era. Our skin color may not be the same tone, we may not do the same type of work, and we may not live the same way, but our core values of honesty, equity, a strong work ethic, and the chance to achieve should not be a Dream, it should be the American Promise.

GRCAI platform will be built on two ideas: Building a positive life, and being a bridge. As an upcoming social entrepreneur, I know the best ideas come when diverse thinkers come to the table and solve problems together. I will build alliances, coalitions, and support across our communities of race, color, and creed. I’ve spent my life in the background assisting teachers and nonprofits I did this by listening to them and helping them achieve their goals. Through GRCAI we’re going to create better, safer, and more economic empowerment opportunities in our urban communities by listening and helping, not by playing politics.

We all want to be part of a vibrant community. The way to get there is to ensure everyone has the skills for a job, the opportunity to get a job, and the chance to achieve the American Promise. We can help people in the city of Chicago build the skills to get hired. We will ensure every adult has a job or career, all of our students improve their academic skills so that they can land their dream job and elders can feel respected and safe in their own community again.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, no matter what zip code they live in. We need to make long-term changes to make our communities safer, like providing our youth with more opportunities. There are also things we can do right now: curbing access to illegal guns, giving neighborhoods more say in developing community policing, and providing after-school programs to give children a safe place from violence. This is another reason why I am trying so hard to start GRCAI in Chicago our children deserve better.

Small businesses play an important role in sustaining communities. Under our political component we will work to pass legislation that makes it easier for entrepreneurs to thrive, in turn, making our communities more vibrant and successful. By helping small businesses and investing in community programs and institutions, GRCAI aims to bring new growth to the Westside and Southside low income African American communities. Quality education is key to opening the doors of opportunity for young black people. GRCAI will create resources for our children and more choices for families. The quality of a child’s education should not be determined by the neighborhood they grow up in. My experience mentoring students in disadvantaged areas for over a decade, I understand the struggle students, teachers, and parents face when schools don’t have the resources they need to succeed.

The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago will be a magnificent interactive space for events. We will host birthday parties, art shows, and conferences in a safe environment. We seek to be a positive outreach within the inner cities starting on the Westside of Chicago for Austin, Garfield Park, and the North Lawndale community residents and eventually somewhere on the Southside of Chicago. You are doing much more than buying a book, when you purchase my revised book "The Solution For Black America: Reclaiming, Rebuilding, And Restoring The Urban Ghettos In America" second edition which is available on Amazon you are helping me to reach millions across the United States who are just as concerned about our inner city youth and their families who are trapped in American ghettos due to socio-economic factors and institutionalized racism.

GRCAI will consist of both a nonprofit sector and a for profit sector. Our nonprofit sector will serve as a community space, providing after school programs, a variety of other outreach and spiritual fellowship. I am not into organized religion that's why my focus is on creating a Christian business beyond the four walls of the church.

The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago objectives are as follows:

• Committed to furthering economic empowerment within the communities we will serve

• Promoting affordable housing and healthcare within the communities we will serve

• Advocating for small businesses to have equal access to capital

• Fight for safer neighborhoods within the communities we will serve

• Challenging the system, advocating for new ideas and policies

• Standing up for social injustice

Background

I created (GRCAM) the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement in 1991 on a site called Gopher to help raise awareness about the genocide which is taking place within our inner cities in America, in order for me to connect with other like-minded individuals who share my concern to form a legitimate coalition across the United States and around the globe for my cause Help Stop The Genocide In American Ghettos starting in Chicago. My goal was to gain enough support to start my Christian business the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago (GRCAI).

GRCAI will provide quality programs and services to benefit the black community and promote culture retention. GRCAI will operate under 5 separate functions within the African American community.

1. A social service component

2. A Spiritual component (optional for secular people)

3. A Political component

4. An Entertainment component

5. An Entrepreneur component

* Our Social service component – We will provide goods and services to the low income African American community by working directly with single black mothers, single black fathers, and low income two parent families within the communities and cities we will serve.

We will promote and provide black students and their families with the necessary tools to achieve academic success in all areas of their educational careers, teach and inform them about their rights and responsibilities in public education, and help them develop leadership skills to become effective leaders of their communities through mentoring them and assisting them to become successful contributors in society. Our goal is to promote a more just and inclusive society by strengthening low-income, primarily the black family through skill-building, access to critical resources, advocacy and collaborative action.

We believe that quality education is the foundation for a successful community along with economic empowerment and spirituality. Our initial efforts focused on training for manufacturers and development and operation of commercial buildings for industrial use on our premises. We will include a training center, targeting at-risk youths and jobseekers within the community we will serve. Thousands of Chicagoans lack the resources to move out of poverty. Our Bridge Program will help low skilled adults raise their math and reading levels in order for them to earn a higher wage. We will offer coding classes for computer software. We will also offer financial literacy to assist our participants in understand about money management.

GRCAI will make a positive difference in the lives of Chicago Westside residents of Austin, Garfield Park, and the North Lawndale community by fostering a safe and healthy environment for children and their families to live. In time GRCAI will expand to residents on the Southside of Chicago and replicate the same programs and services. GRCAI is a community organization which seeks to aid and promote the general welfare of the community through dialogue, empowerment and direct action.

Dialogue: Uniting people across race, ethnicity and religion to more effectively address the problems impacting our inner cities through social engagement and activities.

Empowerment: Developing leadership skills of community members so that they can address the root causes of the problems facing our inner cities and work towards structural change.

Direct Action: Use our united voice to take back our community through petitions, voting initiatives, community clean ups, town hall meetings, lobbying, fundraising, and community-directed development and planning.
GRCAI is a community advocacy organization that will fight for quality schools, adequate health services and housing in the city of Chicago. We will aim to build an equal partnership with local residents to discuss issues affecting the community with the goal of developing plans for future development. We also hope to offer nutritional education to our clients.

We will promote healthy and strong communities, businesses and households to ensure that people who work do not remain in poverty. GRCAI will provide quality programs and services to help low-income and unemployed workers achieve self-sufficiency. Our programs range for adult learners, youth services, senior services and people with disabilities, serving entry level to intermediate job placement. Services include financial counseling, job training, credit building, and small business development.

Our nonprofit sector will provide food, shelter, housing, and supportive services to needy men, women and children who are homeless. Our food distribution center objective is to eliminate hunger and poverty on the Westside of Chicago by providing food to fill the basic need of hungry people; increasing the independence of our clients through self-help initiatives and other innovative programs; and raising awareness of hunger and poverty and work towards a solution to eliminate them by putting my ideas into action.

Our vision is to make our presence known in high crime drug and gang infested communities that want to utilize our programs and services. We serve, and to be a model of compassionate, effective, and collaborative service by building our Food Distribution, achieving Client Services excellence, and building capacity and strengthening our ability to carry out our mission. Our ultimate goal is the eradicate urban violence and poverty in our communities. GRCAI fulfills its mission by addressing emergency needs such as food, shelter, clothing, and assist our clients in finding overnight shelter. Once emergency needs have been met, our case managers will works with our clients to address the long-term needs such as housing, unemployment, health and social support needs.

We will offer a second chance program for ex-offenders of non-violent crimes, former gang members and assist homeless individuals who want to utilize our programs and services. We will offer private employment within the organization to our clients and members based on our budget and sponsorship. Our goal is to first stabilize the community through our outreach programs and services and create legitimate jobs so that our young people don’t become career criminals. As a result we will have safer streets where our clients can raise their families.

* Our spiritual component – (Optional for secular people) GRCAI is a Christian socialist organization. A Christian socialist is a form of socialism based on the teachings of Jesus. Many Christian socialists believe that capitalism is idolatrous and rooted in greed, social inequality, and institutionalized racism which most Christian denominations consider a mortal sin. We will focus on what we stand for: love, compassion, social justice, and liberation theology. Jesus told us to focus on the lease of these in society according to Matthew 25:35-40. He also commanded us to be a witness to others not just for us to read his word, but to activate social change in the world according to Luke 4:18-19. We will be committed to the healing ministry of Jesus by showing compassion to inner city youth and their families which will promote dignity to the people and community we will serve.

* Our political component – We will create our own independent political party at the local level. We will educate the community and push for community rights by creating our own laws known as community rights and get those laws on the books which will be compatible with the dominant culture. Our laws would protect our local residents and give the community a voice and those affected by bias in the current system. We will hold both Rogue Cops and Urban Terrorist accountable for their actions in a constructive manner. We will form cooperative alliance beyond the black community so that this organization can be diverse for all people of Chicago and surrounding suburbs of Chicago.

* Our Entertainment component – The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute will rebuild Black Wall Street within the inner cities of America by promoting the Black Chicago Renaissance, which was a creative movement which emerged in Chicago's "Black Belt" which gave rise to Black writers, political activism, and social change.

We will host the best African American DJs, African Immigrant DJs, Afro Brazilian DJs and Afro Caribbean DJs. We will display the best of black culture has to offer: from concerts, workshops/seminars, and plenty of family friendly activities. We will host the best parties in Chicago, with various music genres such as Reggae, Gospel, R&B, Jazz, Hip Hop/Holy Hip Hop, Spoken word and more. We will create the best films and stage plays in Chicago, and we will promote unknown artist who become members of this organization.

* Our Entrepreneur component – we will provide help accelerate black business ownership within the black community which will help strengthen the black family which would make an impact in the economy.

It’s my hope that the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute of Chicago will become a permanent infrastructure for Chicago Artist who will compete with other cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta and become the Hub throughout the Mid-west for emerging black artists and upcoming black Christian Entrepreneurs. GRCAM is a global community of thinkers and builders I need your help to move GRCAM from behind a computer into urban communities that need our talent and skills.
